I just wrapped up the new outline for chapter two. One of the things I find fun and exciting is this is not the outline I made. Nor was it the outcome that Nic and Sol wanted. If you don’t know who Nic and Sol are you should go and read Chapter 1. In chapter one Ciaran brought in Mr. and Mrs. Hund into the chase scene. That was never planned. As I fleshed out Ciaran I had to figure out who he was, his hobbies, etc. He and his father both like to hunt in the more foresty parts of Clarenby. This would mean that he has dogs. It only made sense that he would use them to try and make Nic’s life harder. That made everything change. He then needed to get off the street, away from the beasts. This forced him into some interesting situations.
This now has caused a new character named Thon to get involved as well as completely changed the original plan. As I continue to try and keep every chapter less than 10,000 words this works really well. I’ve had to get creative with what happens next and Nic and Sol are smart young men. I’m happy with where chapter two is right now. I’ve got the whole outline done and another 1200 words written towards it. My goal is to shoot between 3000 and 4000 words for this chapter. It might be a little ambitious but I want to plan on posting an unedited chapter 2 this week.
